About

As a senior African American male at Howard University, majoring in Public Relations, I know it will be an arduous journey to succeed in life. In knowing this, I am prepared to contradict this theory.

I found my interest in Public Relations after working to organize the Howard Gospel Choir of Howard University tour to Detroit annually beginning in 2011. This year, the concert was hosted by Evangelist Lillian Lloyd, lead vocalist of Ricky Dillard & New G. I thoroughly enjoyed connecting with the public from this experience and how natural it came to me. It also allowed me to exercise my strategic, planning, networking and execution skills.

This summer, I interned with CBS 62/CW50 writing PSAs and show scripts, escorting guests, updating social media, working in studio productions and implementing my brainstorming capability to successfully execute projects dealing with Community Affairs. While here, I confirmed the appearance of Tim Bowman Jr. to be interviewed on an online segment of Street Beat (CW50 show) that I produced, hosted and wrote. I also worked to secure Sindbad, Kierra Sheard and Dorinda Clark Cole for segments but their schedule did not permit.

In addition to my CBS experience, I have worked with Dreamer Management. This is a company that represents various artists. I worked as a public relations specialist in securing interviews for the talent. My internship with Dreamer ended in April 2013. However, I have still provided assistance including securing an interview for their artist, Ivan Ellis, on ABC 7 in Washington, DC along with LeToya Luckett. I worked closely with their production staff to coordinate the Meet and Greet.

I have a passion for my work and want the best outcomes. Therefore, I consistently work on projects (prior to deadline) to ensure it is my best work. My strength is that I am a team player. I enjoy working with others to conceptualize an idea and execute the idea. I have strong work ethic and always open to learning more.

In addition, I have a history in performing in various capacities. Therefore, I am not afraid of the camera if needed. I would like to work in the Entertainment Industry in Public Affairs. I know I will be able to link both of my passions as one.

This past year, I served as the president of the Howard Gospel Choir of Howard University. We traveled as cultural ambassadors to the European countries of Slovakia, Georgia, Croatia, and Ukraine. In addition, I have performed for President Obama, Dorinda Clark Cole of the Legendary Clark Sisters, Bro. Steve., Dr. Bobby Jones Show, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Congressional Black Caucus, Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, Howard University Homecoming Step Show, Howard University Freshman Pinning Ceremony, Howard v. Harvard Debate, Howard University Wednesday Night Live, Angela Dunlap and various others. I've come in contact with Jawn Murray, Torrence Glenn, Neily Dickerson, VaShawn Mitchell, Hezekiah Walker, A.J. Calloway, Judge Mathis, LeToya Luckett, Fantasia, Bradford Smith, Aretha Franklin, Jeff Johnson, Marvin Sapp, Phylicia Rashad, Miguel, Susan Taylor, Jim Madaus, Carol Cain, Laman Rucker, Dr. Deborah Smith-Pollard, 21:03, Kim Burrell, Je'Caryous Johnson, David and Tamela Mann, Sinbad, Rep.
